To me the image of the universe in your article looks like an ovoid shaped object in which the boundary is a horizon and not an edge. If that’s not the case, on the extreme left boundary, there is a large bite-sized chunk missing! Isn’t this missing chunk more likely explained as a visual artefact of the egg shape curvature. If it is a 3D elliptical (egg shaped) object would this be more consistent why the apparent 2D orbits of the planets around the sun are also eliptical ?
Hi Andrew, good observation. You could well be right. I personally don't know, but you are correct that there is no edge. Future post will outline why the universe is without a real shape or shapeless, and why it is probably not expanding at infinite variable speeds in all directions. If the universe is shapeless and dark energy does not exist, there is no reason to suppose that there is an 'edge' or a real shape to it all and it might be that galaxies are not racing from us, given that we have blueshifting - galaxies also moving towards us :)
